Car industry projecting 34 per cent plunge in 2020 sales volume, says Minister

The Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) has revised its projection for commercial and private vehicle sales in 2020 to fall from 607,000 to 400,000.

International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Azmin Ali told the Dewan Rakyat that on Wednesday when replying to the question from Bangi MP Ong Kian Ming that this was due to the unexpected economic consequences triggered by the Covid-19 pandemic.

As he was giving an example for car buyers, Azmin was interrupted by Shah Alam MP Datuk Seri Khalid Samad who accused him of racial stereotyping.
