Black Friday E-Commerce Booms With 8.5% YoY Sales Surge as Holiday Shoppers Spend $9.8B Online

US retail sales on Black Friday rose 2.5% year-over-year excluding automotive sales, according to Mastercard SpendingPulse. This is not adjusted for inflation. E-commerce sales on Black Friday increased by 8.5% year-over-year as consumers shopped more online, while in-store sales increased by 1.1%. US shoppers spent $9.8 billion online during Black Friday this year, according to data from Adobe Analytics. In September, Mastercard SpendingPulse had anticipated overall US retail sales during the November-December holiday season to grow 3.7% excluding automotive, compared to the prior year.
