The new Audi TT Roadster maintains the keys to the 2015 TT Roadster, but it looks slightly more dynamic thanks to subtle modifications. That does not affect the dimensions, which remain at 4.19 meters long and a wheelbase of 2.51 meters. Yes it shows on the Singleframe grill with three-dimensional grille or the air intakes that increase their size and that can remind the sports versions, although they really come standard.

The main difference from the coupe is, of course, its canvas hood. It can be chosen in both black and gray and has a weight of 39 kg. Its electric drive is completed in just 10 seconds and can be done at speeds of up to 50 km / h. On the side stand out the new wheels of 17 to 20 inches or the cover of the fuel tank in aluminum. In the rear, the new bumper and the diffuser that integrates the double exhaust outlet.

The engine range is shared with its rigid roof brother. This means that the diesel engine can no longer be chosen and that, for now, only a single gasoline mechanic will be available (until the arrival of the TT RS). It is none other than the 2.0 TFSI engine, a turbocharged four-cylinder engine that receives some novelties such as the gasoline particulate filter to conform to the WLTP regulations. That means that the 1.8 TFSI of its predecessor will no longer be available.

Now the access variant will be the 40 TFSI (according to the new nomenclature of the brand), which uses the previously named mechanics with a power of 197 hp and 320 Nm of torque. A step above is 45 TFSI, which raises the power of that engine to 245 hp and 370 Nm of torque. With front-wheel drive you can choose the six-speed manual gearbox or the S tronic seven-speed automatic. The most powerful can go with quattro all-wheel drive, in that case it will be mandatory automatically.

At the moment, the top-of-the-range version will be the Audi TTS Roadster. It will have its own character, with a more sporty design, but will maintain the same mechanics as the previous ones. For this specimen the 2.0 TFSI raises its power to 306 hp and 400 Nm of torque (4 hp less than its predecessor). It is linked to the S tronic shift and quattro drive and is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km / h in 4.8 seconds, while its maximum speed is limited to 250 km / h.

The interior of the Audi TT Roadster maintains that minimalist image that characterized the third generation in its launch. Everything revolves around the 12.3-inch Virtual Cockpit, which can go with the MMI Navigation plus system and be controlled by the rotary knob of the MMI touch. It dispenses with the typical central touch screen and also with traditional air conditioning controls. In its place are the three small controls with LCD screen on the same air vents.

The equipment improves slightly and now you can take the Audi connect, which puts the connectivity to a higher level and even includes Wi-Fi. Among the extras include elements such as Bang & Olufsen sound system of 680 watts of power. Among the driving aids you can opt for some popular ones, such as the Audi side assist, road sign recognition, park assist or rear view camera.

The TT Roadster is a cabin where quality and finishes maintain an outstanding level, something that characterizes the brand of the four rings. While the coupe has a 2 + 2 configuration, the convertible is a strict two-seater that has suppressed the rear seats to have space for the hood. In this case the trunk is reduced to 280 liters (305 liters in the coupe).
