Video shows what should happen on a healthy N52 when you open the oil filler cap with the engine running. Note no change in idle speed and light suction that can be heard and felt as the oil cap is opened an closed.

If the idle changes speed, the engine stalls or there is no light vacuum then the PCV system should be inspected / replaced.
